“Sachi provided translation services for my Japanese Family Registry (Koseki), and I am extremely pleased with the comprehensive and meticulous work provided. Sachi demonstrated a remarkable attention to detail, ensuring every nuance was accurately conveyed. Her communication skills were excellent, as she kept me informed throughout the process and promptly addressed any questions that I had. What I found particularly impressive was Sachi's ability to translate older Japanese texts, showcasing a deep understanding of linguistic knowledge and nuances. Overall, the service exceeded my expectations, delivering a thorough and precise translation that truly reflected the intricacies of my Koseki. I highly recommend Sachi and Kokoro Communications, thank you so much!”

“Kokoro Communications' Japanese Phonetics 101 course breaks down Japanese pronunciation in easy to follow videos and accompanying materials. It's a great mix of theory and practice that would be useful not only to those earlier in their learning journey (like myself) but also those who are more advanced grammatically but wanting to sound like a native speaker.”

“After working as a flight attendant for the past 3.5 years, I was looking to expand my knowledge of Japanese in order to qualify for and work Japan flights. After signing up for this course, I was able to build on my knowledge of Japanese and effectively communicate with passengers. I would highly recommend this [Japanese for Flight Attendants] course to anyone wanting to work in a professional environment!”

“I had the pleasure of working with Sachi on a large Japanese-to-English translation project for an academic publication including multiple chapters written by many different colleagues, from various specialities related to disaster science. I was familiar with Sachi’s skills as a translator from a previous project, and one of the reasons she was my top choice for this job was because I was so impressed by her thoughtful translation work and careful consideration of the nuances in language. Her translation work in our project was excellent, and the very high quality results reflect her careful and serious attention to detail, as well as the authors’ different points of view.  Moreover, the process of working with her was honestly a pleasure, as she patiently and effectively handled all of our complicated and changing requests. I especially appreciated her flexibility, and quick and helpful communication throughout. I hope we have a chance to work together again, and would highly recommend her for any translation work.”

“幸さんのフライトアテンダントコースはすごく楽しかったですよ!本当に、コースを買って良かった。I can't express how much I like the [Japanese for Flight Attendant] course. I wish I could give you feedback but I don't seem to find anything lacking in the course. It's truly money well-spent and I already recommended the course to one of my colleagues. Sachi, I'm really grateful that you also included various links because it helps me to improve my Japanese overall.”

“Sachi has the full set of skills to support anyone seeking to obtain a Japanese family register (koseki) for their ancestor(s). If needed, she can fill out the koseki request, identify and translate any supporting documents, deliver the application to the proper local records office, provide payment, translate the koseki into English once received, and provide some helpful geographic and cultural contexts for some of the locations and surnames translated. She also can help with any direct communication with local offices if questions arise. If you only need Sachi’s koseki translation skills, her translations reflect someone who handles the nuances of alternative kanji readings well, has the diligence to translate old and difficult to read documents, and is knowledgeable of Japanese culture. Although I am not a Japanese reader, as an evaluation, I have used numerous translators to translate the same family personal letter which is key to my Japanese research. I consider Sachi’s translation to be the best translation of this document, equal to a translator I used many years ago, who has long since retired. Sachi is a pleasure to work with, and is always prompt, courteous, warm, and enthusiastic in her communications. I highly recommend her!”

“Sachi was an absolute pleasure to work with. When working with archival documents she was always clear, detail oriented and efficient, she was also open and sensitive to the project and priorities at hand. I look forward to working with her again.”

Japanese for Flight Attendants really understands the contents of our job and you really go into depths and details (are you a former CA?). It helps to have links and references to outside resources too. I do wish I had access to this when I first started as a Japanese FA..”

“Sachi provided me a comprehensive translation of four of my family's koseki including all life event details, from both handwritten and typed formats. Everything went smoothly--email communication was clear, online payment was seamless, and the timeframe went exactly as promised. Sachi also shared useful comments on modern address changes, alternative name readings, and transcriptions for all names. I would definitely work with her again!”

“Sachi-san’s work has surpassed all of my expectations. Her kindness, care, and attention to detail is one thing, but she goes above and beyond to illuminate details in the words, etymology, and cultural history that really brings the language to life for me and roots deeper meaning on a personal level. As someone who identifies as Nikkei, being able to exist between these two linguistic worlds of Japanese and English is also helping me reconcile my very opposing cultural heritage. I appreciate that Sachi-san takes the time to offer feedback and pose questions while we discuss multiple meanings to ensure the right nuance is being expressed. I’m currently working with her on three separate projects, and I look forward to creating more works in both languages so we can work together into the future, too. Sachi-san is amazing, 素晴らしい! I highly recommend her and her work! どうもありがとうございました!”

“Sachi's approach was professional and focussed on the task. She worked on the translation of historical and family documents for me that required a skill set and knowledge that she clearly possessed. She was thorough and her attention to detail was very important to this work. She was flexible with discussing the documents and communicated very well to any of my questions. She was able to complete the work in the promised time and with an absolutely high quality result. I will not hesitate to use her for any future work.”

“Catherine Sachi Kikuchi of Kokoro Communications is absolutely fabulous! I have been looking for my paternal grandparents' koseki and had documents that were important to my search on where to send my koseki request. I found Kokoro Communications doing a Google search. Even though several websites were included, after contacting many of them, I found that Sachi was kind and forthright, with a quick response. When I explained what I was looking for, her primary focus was looking through the documents I'd send and let me know which ones should be translated to gain the information I needed to request my grandparents kosekis. When the provincial office in Japan then requested translations of my identifying papers, Sachi had those translations of about 7-10 documents done within about a week. I received my grandfather's koseki and once Sachi reviewed them, she asked questions about the family records and if they matched what I knew, instead of just translating what she read. Because my grandfather's koseki was EXTREMELY confusing, she even created a family tree for me to understand the relationships! I would absolutely recommend Sachi Kikuchi and Kokoro Communications for any and all of my Japanese translations! I am still waiting on my paternal grandmother's koseki and I will DEFINITELY be asking Sachi to translate those, too! Sachi, thank you for bringing to life my confusing, beautiful paternal family tree!”
